FSSAI
Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has launched food safety compliance system in Tamil Nadu and most of the states including union territories. Food Safety and Standards Authority of India regulates the safety and standards of all the food related business and activities happens within the state. Every food business operator (they are called as FBO’s) should be registered or licensed by the FSSAI board even if they are petty food business operators.
FSSAI has introduced a new method of Food Safety Complaince System (FosCos) in TamilNadu, Pondicherry, Gujarat, Odisha, Ladakh, Manipur, Delhi, Goa and Chandigarh by replacing the old registration. This registration can be done without any hassles with simple documents.
Documents Required to Apply for FSSAI Registration / License
Food business operators are required to submit the following documents to get their basic registration, FSSAI State license and FSSAI central license done. There are some mandatory documents and optional documents to uploaded to get the license. The required document details are as follows
- Duly filled in Form A / Form B
- Passport sized photographs within 100kb to be uploaded to the web portal
- Photo Identity proof of the applicant (Aadhaar Card, Driving License, Voter ID card, Passport copy, Pan card or any other state approved photo identity cards)
- Proof of business premises (Sale deed, title deed, EB bill or Rental Agreement if the business premises is rented)
- Business constitution certificate (Company registration certificate, certificate of incorporation, shop license, partnership deed or any other registered business certificate)
- Other documents (No objection certificate from the Municipality or Panchayat, Health NOC, Manufacturers License)
- Food safety plan (Required depends on the type of the license)
- Bank account details
- Directors List / Partners List / Proprietor details with communication details like address and mobile numbers
- Machinery and Equipment details (Required depends on the type of the license)
- IE code if the business is import and export (Required depends on the type of the license)
- Other necessary supporting documents
- Declaration form
FSSAI Certificate Registration Fees
There are 3 different types of licenses available and it is classified depends on the type of the business and annual turnover of the business. The license and fees details are as follows
FSSAI Basic Registration
FSSAI basic registration for all the petty food business operators (FBO’s) who have annual turnover not more than 12 lakhs. Rs.100 is the fees required to pay it when registering online.
FSSAI State License
FSSAI state license is required to taken for all the food business operators who have annual turnover 12lakhs to 20crores. Fees required to pay Rs. 2500 to Rs.5000 depends on the type of the business registered.
FSSAI Central License
FSSAI central license is required to be taken for all the food business operators who have annual turnover exceeding 20crores. Fees required to pay Rs. 7500 to get the central license.
FSSAI License Application Procedure Online
FSSAI and FosCos has introduced new and easy methods to apply for FSSAI basic registration, state license or central license online. We have given step by step process to understand the registration process clearly. The details are as follows
Step 1: Please visit official web portal of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India and Food Safety Compliance System (FSSAI or FosCos)
Step 2: In the home page click “Apply License/Registration Fee: Rs.100 to Rs.7500 per year”
Step 3: There are 3 options given in the next page. The option details are as follow
- Apply for License/Registration
- Apply for License/Registration (Railways)
- Apply for License/Registration (Airport/Seaport)
Click “Apply for License/Registration”
Step 4: You will be redirected to next page; in the page you have to select the state where business premises is located for which License/Registration will be obtained.
Step 5: Once you select the concerned state, there are 4 category of business details will be displayed. The details are as follows
- Manufacturer
- Trade/Retail
- Food Services
- Central Government Agencies
- Head office
Here let me select “Trade/Retail” category as an example.
Step 6: In the next step I’m selecting Retailer and then selecting the option “Turnover upto 12lakhs/annum” since I’m applying for basic registration license. If your annual turn over is more 12 lakhs and upto 20crores, you have to select “Turnover upto 20 crores/annum” for a state license. If your turn over exceeding 20 crores per annum you have get central license by selecting “Turnover greater than 20crores/annum”. Click “Proceed” after selecting the turnover details.
Step 7: In the next page, your kind of business and license category will be displayed under view eligibility. Click “Click here to apply for Registration of all the businesses”
Step 8: You will be directed to application page (Form A or Form B depends the turnover you select). In the application page, you have to fill in the following details
- Name of Applicant/Company
- Designation details (Individual, Partner, Proprietor, Co-operative societies or Others)
- Kind of business will be pre-selected
- Address of the premises where food business is located
- Correspondence address details
- Applicant contact details
- Number of years that applicant wants the license (You can select up to 5 Years)
- Details of the food items proposed to be manufactured or sold
- Name of the food category for other than manufacturing units
- Food safety Mitra details
- Business start date
- Source of water supply
- Electric power details used for manufacturing the food items
Fill in all the details and select “Save & Next”
Step 9: You will be asking to sign up if not created an account. Type you primary details like email, mobile number and login credentials like user Id and password. Authentic you account through the OTP and create an account.
Step 10: In the next page you have upload the supportive documents. You have to upload your photograph, ID proof, and Proof of premises details.
Step 11: Down that page you have select the mode of payment to process the application. Select the payment mode and make the necessary payment. You can pay the service charges through credit cards, debit cards, through internet banking and through UPI payments methods.
Step 12: You will be receiving an acknowledgement receipt once payment is done. Take a print out or save in to the computer for future reference. Application reference will be helpful to know the status of your application online.
Step 13: It will 7 to 14 working days to process your application. Approval and rejection depend on the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. You will get application approved if the submitted documents are correct and as per the guidelines of the government.
