Chitta is a set of Patta of several lands owned by the owner of the land. That is, a Chitta is a government document that indicates how much land a particular landowner owns in a particular village. The Chitta document contains the name of the owner of the land, the total number of lands in his name, the land title deed, and its details, what kind of land, and whether the land is being cultivated or not.

The tax paid details and the details of the settlement of lands to the Government will be mentioned in the Chitta.

The following are the documents required to apply for Patta and Chitta. The details are as follows

Title Deed / Sale Deed

The original sale will be verified by the concerned Tahsildar or the concerned authorities. So, the original sale deed should be submitted along with the required photocopies to the Tahsildar.

Encumbrance Certificate

Encumbrance certificate to confirm that there is no legal issue in the concerned land or the property.

Possession Proof

Identification proof should be submitted to confirm that the land or the property belongs to the concerned owner. The property owner can submit Tax Paid Receipts or Electricity Bills to confirm the ownership.

The Government of Tamil Nadu has made it very easy to apply online for things like Patta Chitta. So, everyone can now easily apply for Patta and Chitta. To make this even easier we have explained step by step process to apply for Patta and Chitta online. The details are as follows

Step 1: Please visit the Department of Survey and Settlement, Government of Tamilnadu.

Step 2: On the home page, the following services are available online. The details are as follows

  • View Patta and Chitta
  • View A-register extract
  • Verify Patta and Chitta (You can verify the real owner of the Patta)
  • Verify Government or Private (Poramboke) land
  • Rural FMB sketch
  • View Patta order copy for rural area
  • TSLR extract
  • TSLR sketch for urban area
  • Even you can check the application status

Step 3: On the home page, select View Patta/Chitta, FMB Sketch, or TSLR extract to proceed further.

Step 4: On the next page, you have to fill in the following details to proceed further. The details are as follows

District, Taluk, Town, Ward, Block, Town Survey number, and Subdivision number.

Lastly, enter the authentication value and click “Submit”.

Step 5: Check out the Patta details, name change, or Patta transfer details, and click “Continue” to continue.

Step 6: You will be redirected to the payment page.

Step 7: Select the payment method and pay the required fee to get the service done with the Patta. You can pay the payment through Credit cards, Debit cards, Internet banking, or through UPI payment methods.

Step 8: Authenticate the payment with OTP and proceed to pay the fee.

Step 9: You will be receiving an acknowledgment receipt once you are done with the payment. Acknowledgment receipt carries the fee paid details and application reference number for future reference. Keep the application reference to know the status of your application.

How to check the application status of Patta and Chitta?
