Due to excessive use of social media, although there are many advantages, there are disadvantages as well,
we all know that. We know that we will become addicted to social media if we use them too much.But in today’s
social situations the usage cannot be reduced.We know about the evils of using and addicted to social media
through the social media sources, but we do not follow its methods to get out of it.
Now lets see in detail how we can be affected mentally in many ways by using too much social media.
1. Comparing Ourselves to Other
We stay in touch with friends we can’t see, people we love, and many more people through social media.That’s good but
We don’t have any problem until we compare their lifestyle with ours. If we started comparing and seeing why we could not
live like them, then we forget our progress.If this continues, we become depressed over time.But there are those who have
progressed by comparing us with others.What I mean here is that the comparison should be positive way.
2. Static Lifestyle
Excessive use of social media does not give our body any work it needs. We get stuck in one place. We start to like
being alone. We cut off direct contact with others. The reality is that this mindset makes us prone to anxiety and stress.
3. Self-Image and Self-Perception
Looking at other people’s unrealistic photos through social media, we worry that why we can’t become as beautiful as them,
but we don’t know about its reality. There are bunch of applications that exaggerates the beauty of individual photos
and videos. But the reality is different. Everyone should believe in their talent and not in their beauty.
4. Addiction to Social Media
Addiction to social media makes it very difficult for those who have reached this stage to come out of it.
So our mental health is affected. When our minds are hurt we are tempted to open up every minute and every second
to see what someone has said about us on social media.As days go by we lose sleep. We get addicted to bad habits.
We forget to eat at the right time. All these make us mentally vulnerable. We should control social media and it
should not control us.
5. Online Bullying
Addiction to social media makes us react to all kinds of negative criticism since we lose self-control. We should not
get reacted to instigating comments and we should not spread false rumours. Double checking the messages and articles
posted in social media.

Final words
Apart from this there are many other problems that affect the mind. Everything we have read above is pretty basic
but there is more. Here we are not saying that using social media is wrong but it is wrong to be addicted to it.
